Player Galaxy Map
The Player Galaxy Map turns your exploration record into a tactical chart. Open it from the πΊοΈ button beside your profile or press 0 from the sector screen or Navigation Log.
The map is private to your active ship and current galaxy. The Void, The Abyss, and The Frontier each keep their own separate exploration record.
What the Map Reveals
A sector appears when your active ship has:
- visited it;
- observed it with a Holographic Scanner or probe; or
- currently occupies it.
Warp lanes appear only when you have revealed both sectors at their ends. Unknown sectors, their coordinates, and their hidden connections are not sent to the map.
Older visited sectors may show as Topology Only. You know where the sector is and which revealed lanes connect to it, but mutable details remain unknown until you visit or scan it again.
Remembered Intel Is Not Live Tracking
Holographic scans and probes record coarse observations such as fighter and mine strength bands, planet and NPC counts, and whether another player ship was present.
Those observations do not update when another captain moves or changes defenses. The map labels them by age:
- Fresh: observed within five minutes;
- Aging: observed more than five but no more than thirty minutes ago;
- Stale: observed more than thirty minutes ago; and
- Unknown: no reliable observation time exists.
Port-market snapshots have a longer clock: fresh for fifteen minutes, aging through six hours, then stale.
Treat stale hostile markers as history, not a promise that the target is still there.
Your Own Assets
The map can show your active ship, planets, deployed fighters, and deployed mines in explored sectors. Use the Own assets control to hide or show these markers.
The Remembered intel control affects only observations already stored by your ship. It never requests live galaxy-wide hostile positions.
Ports and Routes
The Remembered ports layer marks ports recorded in your sector memory. It does not reveal unknown ports or refresh old port information. Auto-Pilot uses these same remembered port snapshots for remote destination choices and recommendations rather than reading live markets at a distance.
The Warp lanes layer shows connections whose two endpoint sectors are both revealed. Select a sector to highlight the shortest known route from your current location. When a known route exists, Warp To Sector returns you to the sector console and opens the existing Warp To planner with that destination selected. The full Warp To console can still route over globally charted navigation topology; the private map deliberately displays only your revealed graph and remembered mutable intel.
Controls
- With up to 50 revealed sectors, the map opens fitted to your entire explored chart, including sectors revealed by your latest movement. Larger charts open at a tactical zoom centered on your active ship so the galaxy does not become microscopic.
- Drag to pan and use the wheel or trackpad to zoom.
- On desktop, use the vertical slider on the mapβs right edge for precise zoom control. On touch devices, pinch directly on the map to zoom.
- Select a sector to read its remembered details.
- Fit restores the full explored-chart overview after you pan or zoom.
- Refresh asks the server for the latest version of your private map.
- Esc returns to the sector screen.
The client briefly reuses a recent map when you reopen it. Moving, scanning, launching a probe, changing ships, or changing your own mapped assets invalidates that copy.
