Orbital Tactical Display
Combat now shows a small tactical map giving spatial context to the encounter.
Combat encounters now include a small Orbital Tactical Display for spatial flavor.
The display shows:
- YOU as a cyan triangle
- HOSTILE as a red X
- PLANET as a yellow circle (when the sector contains one)
- ASTEROID BELT as a muted dot cluster (when the sector has one)
The layout is deterministic for each encounter, so the same fight always draws the same scene. On desktop it sits in the top-right of the combat panel; on mobile it stacks below the combat controls so it stays visible without crowding the action buttons. The sector console’s Warp Lanes panel shows the same display for the sector you are in — you, hostiles, planets, ports, belts — under an ORBITAL SCAN heading with a hover tooltip legend, and the panel title row now carries the Map [0] button (icon + label, right-aligned); the shortcut moved out of the top bar, where Settings remains.
Also in this pass: warping into a safe (Fedspace) sector no longer shows the “Threat Detected” confirmation — combat is not possible there, so the pane only appeared for sectors that cannot hurt you. Confirmation still gates warps into caution and dangerous sectors.
A follow-up polish pass centered the Warp Lanes entries — lane icons, sector numbers, names, and their port/StarDock badges now sit centered to line up with the ORBITAL SCAN display beneath them. The panel header and the Warp To button are unchanged.
Each destination is now enclosed in a lightweight rounded panel, keeping its sector details, threat status, and scan controls visually grouped.
Belts are flavor-only for now: they appear in roughly one in five sectors and have no gameplay effect (no mining mechanics). The whole feature is purely cosmetic — no combat mechanics changed, and there are no API or server updates.
