Proton Torpedo Chokepoint Counterplay
New adjacent-sector torpedoes temporarily suppress Q-cannons and fighter patrols without destroying defender assets.

What changed
- Proton Torpedoes - Buy one at StarDock for 80,000 credits and carry it aboard your ship.
- Select an adjacent warp lane in Sector View, then fire the torpedo for 1 AP.
- The target sector receives 40% defense suppression for 15 minutes. A second torpedo can raise the effect to 65% and refresh the timer.
- While suppressed, hostile Q-cannon damage and fighter-patrol strength are reduced for pilots entering that sector.
How it works
- Visit a StarDock and arm one Proton Torpedo.
- Return to Sector View and select a connected adjacent sector.
- Fire the torpedo, then decide whether to enter while its defenses are weakened.
Defenders receive a Captain’s Log alert when their Q-cannons or deployed fighters are suppressed. The effect is temporary and applies only to sector-entry defenses.
Limitations
- Mines are not suppressed. Cloaking remains the safer counterplay for minefields.
- Proton Torpedoes do not destroy fighters, planets, citadels, Q-cannon settings, or other defender assets.
- You can carry only one torpedo at a time.
- Torpedoes cannot be fired into or from protected space.
- Firing breaks an active cloak.
Why it matters
Proton Torpedoes give pilots a costly option for challenging fortified chokepoints without permanently deleting another player’s defenses. Cloaking still helps with mines; torpedoes create a deliberate opening against Q-cannons and fighter patrols. Together, they give pilots more choices than repeatedly dying at a single defended route.
