What changed

A new Community Edition page is now live on the main site at /community-edition.

  • Introduces TW 3002 AI Community Edition as a licensed, curated self-host package for operators.
  • Explains the Cloudflare-first hosting model: Workers, D1, and Pages.
  • Clarifies what Community Edition is and is not — including that it is not a free or open-source release.
  • Adds a Hosting Costs section explaining that core game/API features fit within Cloudflare’s generous free tier, with custom domains as the only optional hosting cost, plus a clear note that the Community Edition license itself is separate and pricing is TBD.
  • Adds a navigation link to the main site header and a homepage callout for operators.
  • Invites interested operators to join the Discord to discuss licensing and early pilot access.

Why it exists

There is growing interest from players and community members who want to run private galaxies, test custom rules, or host TW 3002 AI under their own branding. Community Edition packages the same runtime used by the hosted galaxies and makes it available as a licensed operator product.

What comes next

  • A limited pilot cohort will open to early operators.
  • Final pricing and license terms will be shared with applicants.
  • The Community Edition distribution repo will continue receiving curated releases from the main development repo.

For players

This does not change anything about the hosted galaxies (The Void and The Abyss). Community Edition is a separate product for people who want to self-host.
