Player-Built Ports

Captains can now construct a weak port in an empty non-safe sector, choose its trade pattern, and grow it over time through real trade volume.

What’s new

  • Player-built ports are now live.
  • In an eligible empty sector, you can now build a new port for 500,000 credits and 10 Action Points.
  • At build time, you choose one of the three classic port trade patterns:
    • Pattern 1 Β· BBS β€” you buy equipment and sell ore + organics
    • Pattern 2 Β· BSB β€” you buy organics and sell ore + equipment
    • Pattern 3 Β· SBB β€” you buy ore and sell organics + equipment
  • New ports start weak at Class 3 quality with low capacity.
  • Player-built ports grow through real trade volume and can improve up to Class 1 quality over time.

Important limits

  • You can only build in sectors that:
    • do not already have a port
    • are not safe sectors
    • are not StarDock sectors
  • Melange is not supported in player-built ports for this first release.

Why it matters

This changes the economy from a fixed map into something players can start shaping themselves.

Player-built ports are especially useful when you want to:

  • create a trade node near planets you already control
  • turn an otherwise empty sector into a logistics stop
  • create your own future route opportunities instead of relying only on seeded ports

They are intentionally not instant replacements for the best seeded ports. The value is strategic control and long-term growth, not immediate maximum efficiency.
