Beta Patch: Planet Resources, Turn Math, and Death Modal

Fixing missing planet data, turn regeneration display, and silent PvP deaths — plus a new death modal so getting killed isn't a mystery anymore.

What changed

Bug fixes

  • Planet resources now display correctly — When you open a planet from the sector list, stored resources (fuel, organics, equipment, fighters), daily production, max colonists, and description now all appear as expected. They were previously blank because the sector scanner wasn’t sending that data to the client.
  • Q-Cannon settings persist properly — Q-Cannon slider values now survive logout and sector reloads. The server wasn’t returning the saved percentages in the sector planet list, so the modal defaulted to 0 every time.
  • Turn regeneration display is now honest — “+120 turns regenerated while away” on an 80-max Merchant ship was misleading. The message now shows the actual turns gained after capping at your ship’s maximum (e.g. “+80 turns regenerated”).

New features

  • Death modal — Getting destroyed while warping used to be a silent event. You’d respawn at FedSpace and only discover what happened by checking the broadband news feed. Not anymore.
    • A death modal now pops immediately when your ship is destroyed by PvP combat, mines, or Q-Cannon during sector entry.
    • Shows: who killed you, which sector, your respawned ship status (hull, shield, credits), and a combat log of everything that happened during entry.
    • This is a stopgap fix. Interactive PvP combat (fight/flee choices, pre-warp warnings) is being planned for a future update.

What this means for play

  • Planet management is now usable — you can see what you’ve stockpiled and what your daily production looks like.
  • Q-Cannon percentages on Level 3+ citadels will now actually stay where you set them.
  • If you die, you’ll know exactly what happened and where. No more mystery respawns.

What’s next

  • PvP interactivity is on the roadmap (pre-warp hostile warnings, fight/flee/surrender choices). Planning doc is in motion.
